Terms of Use
Effective date: October 27, 2026
1. Introduction
1.1 These terms govern your use of A Game of Golf: the game at play.agameofgolf.com, this website at www.agameofgolf.com, and any other version of the game we provide (together, “the Game”). The Game is owned and operated by Rampant Strategy, LLC (“Rampant Strategy”, “we” or “us”).
1.2 By using the Game you accept these terms in full. If you disagree with them or any part of them, you must not use the Game.
1.3 When you create an account, we ask you to agree to these terms expressly and to confirm you have read our Privacy Policy.
1.4 The Game uses a single cookie, to keep you signed in, and keeps your settings in your browser. The Privacy Policy explains both.
2. Who May Play
2.1 You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to terms like these without a parent’s consent.
2.2 Your account is yours, and you are responsible for what is done with it. Others may play on it on your device, but you must not let anyone sign in to it on theirs, and you must not use anyone else’s.
2.3 You must give us an email address that is yours and that you can read.
3. Your Account
3.1 There is no password. You sign in with your email address and a code we email you, so anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Keep your email account secure.
3.2 Your player name is what other players see. It must not mislead, impersonate anyone, or be offensive or otherwise inappropriate. We may change a player name at our discretion.
3.3 Tell us at support@agameofgolf.com straight away if you think someone else is using your account.
4. Free Accounts and Purchases
4.1 A free account plays the courses we mark as free (at present Iron Ascent, the driving range and the practice green), on your own and with friends. We may change which course or courses a free account plays.
4.2 Other courses and features will be offered for purchase. Purchases will come with their own terms of sale, including refunds, shown before you pay.
5. Licence to Play
5.1 We, together with our licensors, own the Game and everything in it: its software, courses, models, sounds, pictures and text. All rights are reserved except those these terms give you. The Credits name our licensors and the sources of our maps and elevation data.
5.2 We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play the Game, however we package and deliver it to you (in a web browser, as an app or as a download), for your own enjoyment, subject to these terms.
5.3 Your device downloads and stores the Game’s files in order to run it; that is part of playing.
5.4 You may take screenshots and record videos of your play and share them anywhere, including on channels that earn you money.
5.5 Unless these terms or the law allow it, you must not:
- copy, republish, host, sell, rent or sub-license the Game or any of its files;
- take the courses, or any other material, out of the Game to use elsewhere: our courses are for playing in the Game;
- reverse engineer or decompile the Game, or use its code, courses or other material to make another game or service;
- get around, or try to get around, any limit on what your account may play or any other access restriction.
5.6 Some courses are built partly from OpenStreetMap’s maps and Microsoft’s building outlines, which their licence, the Open Database Licence, lets anyone reuse. Those courses say so in the game. Their course files are available under that licence (write to us), and section 5.5 does not apply to them.
5.7 We may change or stop offering any part of the Game. If we ever stop running the Game’s servers, we will first release a final version that plays on your own without them, free for anyone to keep and share, with every course we own outright and the others as far as their licences and owners allow.
6. Playing Fair
6.1 You must not:
- do anything that damages the Game or harms its performance, availability or accessibility for anyone;
- use the Game in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful, or for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
- use the Game to send or store any virus, spyware or other malicious software;
- change the Game or its messages to our servers to alter a round, a score or another player’s game;
- play through a bot or script that plays for you, or scrape, mine or harvest the Game or other players’ information, without our written consent (tools that help you play yourself, such as controllers, key remappers and accessibility aids, are fine, and so are search engines and link previews reading our public pages);
- harass, threaten or spam other players, including through friend requests;
- use anything collected from the Game for direct marketing of any kind.
6.2 Everything you tell us must be true, accurate and current.
7. What You Share
7.1 Your player name, color, golfer, scores and stats are shown to the players in your rounds. Your friends see your player name and whether you’re free, playing or offline. Once there are course packs to buy, the year of the newest one you own is shown after your player name, in rounds and on the Friends screen: “Ben (26)”.
7.2 When you share a round’s scorecard, anyone with its link can see it: the course, the date, and the player names, scores and stats of everyone in that round. When you play with friends, any of them may share the round’s card. Shared links are not listed anywhere or offered to search engines, but anyone you send one to can pass it on.
7.3 Your star ratings count toward a course’s average, which everyone sees; they are not shown with your name.
7.4 You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy and show what you put into the Game (your player name, golfer, rounds, scorecards and ratings) as needed to run the Game and as the Privacy Policy describes. You keep whatever rights you have in it. After you close your account, this licence continues only for our backups, until they expire.
7.5 If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
8. Courses on Real Land
8.1 Some courses are modeled on real golf courses or real land, built from public elevation surveys and maps. They are our own representations, which we change where the Game needs it, so they may differ from the real courses. The names of real courses belong to their owners, and the Game is not affiliated with or endorsed by any golf club or course owner unless we say so on the course.
8.2 If you own or run a course and would like to endorse its version in the Game, or have it changed or removed, write to us at support@agameofgolf.com.
9. Suspension and Closing Your Account
9.1 If you break these terms, or we reasonably suspect you have, or we need to protect the Game or its players, we may warn you, change your player name, suspend or close your account, block your access to the Game, or take legal action against you.
9.2 Where we suspend or block your access, you must not get around it, including by creating or using another account.
9.3 You may close your account at any time by emailing support@agameofgolf.com. Closing it can’t be undone and gives up anything it owns. We delete it as the Privacy Policy describes.
9.4 We may delete a free account that hasn’t been used for two years, after sending an email to its address a month before.
10. Limited Warranties
10.1 The Game is provided as it is. We do not warrant or represent that it will run on any particular device, that it will be free of errors, or that it or any part of it will remain available, beyond what section 5.7 promises.
10.2 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and subject to section 11.1, we exclude all representations and warranties relating to the Game and your use of it.
11. Limitations and Exclusions of Liability
11.1 Nothing in these terms will:
- limit or exclude any liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence;
- limit or exclude any liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- limit the rights consumer law in the EU or the UK gives you in digital content, including content supplied in return for your information;
- limit any liabilities in any way that is not permitted under applicable law; or
- exclude any liabilities that may not be excluded under applicable law.
11.2 The limitations and exclusions of liability in this section and elsewhere in these terms are subject to section 11.1, and govern all liabilities arising under these terms or relating to the Game, including liabilities in contract, in tort (including negligence) and for breach of statutory duty.
11.3 To the extent that the Game is provided free of charge, we will not be liable for any loss or damage of any nature.
11.4 We will not be liable to you for any losses arising out of any event or events beyond our reasonable control.
11.5 We will not be liable to you for any business losses, including loss of or damage to profits, income, revenue, use, production, anticipated savings, business, contracts, commercial opportunities or goodwill.
11.6 We will not be liable to you for any loss or corruption of any data, scores or settings.
11.7 We will not be liable to you for any special, indirect or consequential loss or damage.
11.8 You agree that any claim about the Game or these terms is against Rampant Strategy, LLC, and not against its owner, officers or employees personally. This does not reduce the company’s own responsibility for what they do.
11.9 Otherwise, our total liability to you for anything relating to the Game is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Changes to These Terms
12.1 We may revise these terms from time to time.
12.2 We will ask you to agree to a revision that reduces your rights or widens what we may do, in the Game or by email; until you agree, you will not be able to play with your account, and if you do not wish to agree, you may close it. Smaller changes, such as a correction or a new contact address, are posted here with a new effective date.
13. General
13.1 We may assign, transfer, sub-contract or otherwise deal with our rights and obligations under these terms, including to another company that takes over the Game. You may not do so without our prior written consent.
13.2 If a court or other competent authority finds any provision of these terms unlawful or unenforceable, the other provisions continue in effect. If an unlawful or unenforceable provision would be lawful or enforceable with part of it deleted, that part is deemed deleted and the rest continues in effect.
13.3 These terms are for our benefit and yours, and are not intended to benefit or be enforceable by any third party, except that our owner, officers and employees may rely on section 11.8.
13.4 Subject to section 11.1, these terms, together with any terms of sale for what you buy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Game, and supersede any earlier agreement between you and us about it. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
14. Law and Jurisdiction
14.1 These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware and the applicable federal laws of the United States.
14.2 Any disputes relating to these terms are to be brought in the courts of the State of Delaware, except that if you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada or another place whose law lets you bring a claim in your own courts, you may do so instead.
14.3 If you live in such a place, its consumer protection law also applies to you, and nothing in these terms takes away a right it gives you that cannot be waived by agreement.
